About the NRA CCW Class:

This NRA Basic CCW course introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. This course will also help prepare the student for participation in more advanced NRApistol courses.

The class certificate received after successful completion of this course does satisfy Iowa’s educational requirement for an initial concealed carry permit or renewal application.

In this course you will learn:

• Gun Safety
• Firearm Characteristics
• The Basic Fundamentals & Proper Form
• Pistol Selection & Proper Usage
• Ammunition Types And Differences
• Common Errors And How To Correct
• Stoppages And Corrective Actions
• How To Clean A Pistol

This class is a perfect starting point to your never-ending training. It is a wonderful fit for folks of all ages. We especially love having the opportunity to educate the young ones, as youth firearm education is very near and dear to our hearts.

This course will not include: public carry information or live fire.

This course is approximately 7 hours.

The class certificate received after successful completion of this course does satisfy Iowa’s educational requirement for an initial concealed carry permit or renewal application.

Optional Range time add-on: $27

Range time which will entail hands-on coaching to increase your comfort and confidence. The ranges you will shoot at will be Iowa State DNR manned ranges (Banner & Olofson.) – two
Hour limit. Banner shooting range in Indianola and Olofson shooting range in Polk City are The ranges we regularly use. This is, however, subject to change. IA state range fees are
$10/hour.*

Course Requirements

• You must be a u.S. Citizen or a u.S. Person – a natural person who is a lawful permanent Resident as defined in 8 u.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 u.S.C.
  1324b(a)(3) to participate in this course.
• Be qualified to possess a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state or local law
• Be of good repute, come with a good attitude, and be ready to learn
