More About The Columbia, South Carolina Pistol Class:

Beginners Pistol is a class geared towards those who are new to handguns and are interested in learning gun safety and how to shoot.

The CWP portion is an abbreviated version of our popular CWP class that covers just the SLED required material necessary to pass the exam.

In other words, this class is not only teaches the SLED required course and qualification exam for a CWP but it further covers additional content to support those who are new to handguns and carrying and using them in self-defense.

• Causes of gun accidents
• Four cardinal rules of gun safety
• Parts of a pistol
• Pistol maintenance
• Proper firearms storage
• Ammunition and malfunctions
• Loading/unloading a semiautomatic pistol
• Shooting fundamentals
• South Carolina law
• Self defense law
• Live fire on a shooting range
• CWP shooting qualification – 25 rounds

This class typically lasts 8 hours. You will be taught the fundamentals of proper and safe pistol handling and firing in a safe and comfortable environment with one of the state’s best instructors.

The class is held at Mid-Carolina Rifle Club and is geared for no more than 8 students at a time although exceptions can be made.

The student does not need to possess a pistol for the class.

A .22LR pistol is provided along with 50 rounds of ammunition. More .22LR ammunition will most likely be needed and is available for purchase for $10 a box.

Students are more than welcome to bring their own pistols; however, holsters are required in this case.

Higher caliber gun rentals are available. Ammunition in 9mm, .380ACP, 40S&W, and 38 special are available for purchase in class.

Joseph Shahoud has been a handgun enthusiast and an advocate of personal defense his entire adult life. He believes no one should ever be a victim and strives to make a difference one student at a time. How Do I Apply For My CCW License After the Class?

After the class, you will walk out with a class completion certificate signed by the instructor. From there you just need to visit your county sheriff’s office and apply. Don’t worry. We’ll give you detailed instructions and set you up before you leave the class.
