About the Maryland CCW Class:

As of October 1, 2013 as part of the Firearms Safety Act of 2013, civilians will now have to take required training in order to apply for a Maryland Wear and Carry Permit, formerly know as the Maryland Handgun Permit.

The course will cover all of the basics of owning and operating a handgun. There are two total days of training which include both classroom and range instruction. The course covers all the requirements to be able to apply for the Maryland Wear and Carry Permit and also qualifies the student to receive a Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) at the same time.

NOTE: We will be doing the “day 1” portion of this course. You need to take both day 1 and day 2 of this class but you do not need to have them in order.

About the Concealed Carry Instructor:

Patrick Beam is a 15 year veteran of law enforcement and currently a Lieutenant in Montgomery County, Maryland. Patrick spent 13 years as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army and has been deployed to multiple countries, including Iraq. Patrick is a certified NRA Instructor and is certified through the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission to teach Wear and Carry and HQL. Patrick has been a certified trainer for over 10 years.

Where is the Class Located?:

Class will be taught at the IWLA club in Clear Spring MD.  The address is 12759 Independence Road Clear Spring, MD 21722. Please note if you just show up you will not be permitted into the class. You MUST pre-register.

How Do I Apply For My CCW License After the Class?

After the class, you will walk out with a class completion certificate signed by the instructor. From there you just need to visit your county sheriff’s office and apply. Don’t worry. We’ll give you detailed instructions and set you up before you leave the class.
